Dear Year 8 students, you will be choosing your Options in February 2021. You will start studying these in September 2021.

Here is a copy of the letter we sent to all parents and carers of Year 8 students on 28 January

Step 2

Read up on all the options available.

We are asking students to choose five options, plus three extra 'back-up' choices.

In Year 7 and 8, the English Learning Zone teaches you:

  • English lessons


In Years 9-11, you must study:


You can choose to study:

In Year 7 and 8, the Maths Learning Zone teaches you:

  • Maths lessons


In Years 9-11, you must study:

In Year 7 and 8, the Science Learning Zone teaches you:

  • Science lessons


In Years 9-11, you must study:

In Year 7 and 8, the Digital Communications Learning Zone teaches you:

  • IT lessons which include some Computer Science and Business Studies and Digital Literacy


In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:


Restrictions: you cannot choose both GCSE Business Studies and Level 2 Technical Award in Enterprise (Business).

In Year 7 and 8, the Expressive Arts Learning Zone teaches you:

  • Art lessons

  • Drama lessons

  • Music lessons


In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:


Restrictions: you cannot choose both GCSE Music and BTEC Music.

In Year 7 and 8, the Humanities Learning Zone teaches you:

  • Geography lessons

  • History lessons

  • RE lessons


In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:


In Year 7 and 8, the MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Learning Zone teaches you:

  • French or Spanish lessons


In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:


In Year 7 and 8, the Technology Learning Zone teaches you:

  • Technology lessons, which include some food technology, product design and textiles.


In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:


Restrictions:

  • You cannot choose both GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition and Level 2 Award in Hospitality and Catering.

  • If you are interested in GCSE Textiles, you may be restricted in also choosing GCSE Design & Technology Product Design and also GCSE Art and Design. If you are interested in these subjects we advise you to speak to the teachers.

In Year 7 and 8, the PE (Physical Education) Learning Zone teaches you:

  • PE lessons


All students will have PE lessons to help your health and well-being.

In Years 9-11, you can choose to study:

Make an informed choice.

  • Have a look for an 'options' folder in your Google Drive's 'Shared With Me' section. Here you will find:

    • Your most recent report - a reminder of what subjects you are good at

    • A list of any recommendations from your teachers

Virtual Options Event, Tuesday 23 February 2021

Parents and carers and students will all have the chance to find out more from teachers about the options subjects - which ones are right for you?

We'll be hosting a Virtual Options Evening via our Parents Evening System on 23 February 2021., between 4-6pm.

Please book appointments in advance.

When you are browsing around this site, some subjects will display this badge.

EBacc (English Baccalaureate) subjects are highly regarded by universities and colleges.

You must choose 2 EBacc subjects amongst your 8 choices.

As we do not own this video we can't make it available in other formats

Xello is an engaging online program that helps students build the skills, knowledge and plans to be future ready. The program uses an investigative, discovery-based learning process. Students better understand themselves, their future career options, and the 21st century skills they’ll need to succeed.

All students have access to a Xello account your username is your school email address and your password is your date of birth (8 digit format DDMMYYYY).

The form will be live from 23 February 2021, 4pm.

You MUST be logged in to your academy Google account to fill it in.

You will also need a Parent/carer PIN - these will be sent to you on the morning of the 23 February.
