Please note that this subject has similarities with Business Studies. You cannot choose both Business Studies and Enterprise.
Course Description
At the academy we offer the Level 2 Technical Award in Enterprise. Enterprise provides students with insight into the operation of both small and large businesses, giving vocational experience of how to operate and run these very different organisations. Enterprise follows the Edexcel syllabus and introduces students to the theory market research for local businesses then follows that through to how larger companies manage to be successful. Students undertake 60% coursework during their time on the course, with the other 40% being an external assessment (exam).
Students working on the Level 2 Technical award in Enterprise (Business) will engage in a practical study of how real world businesses work, develop and make a profit, while developing technical business and employability skills within their Key Stage 4 curriculum. It provides an introduction to some of the key themes within the sector, enabling students to understand the world of business through research, role play, assignments, project work, and case studies. It promotes an awareness of organisations, the real world context in which they operate, the markets they serve and the process of adding value to achieve their objectives.
Assessment
Learners are required to complete and achieve all the components included in the qualification.
Who would this course be suitable for?
The Pearson Level 2 Technical Award in Enterprise is for learners who wish to acquire skills through vocational contexts by studying the knowledge, behaviours and skills related to researching, setting up, running and reviewing an enterprise. The qualification enables learners to develop their technical skills such as market research skills, planning, promotional and financial skills using realistic work scenarios, and personal skills, (such as monitoring own performance, time management and problem solving) through a practical and skills based approach to learning and assessment.
Potential career paths
This qualification enables hands on work-related learning and experience. It is an excellent grounding and gateway to higher level Business courses such as Linear A level Business Studies and Level 3 BTEC National Business Studies.
