Course Description
There are three main parts to studying music at KS4, which builds upon skills you have learn during Years 7, 8 and 9.
Performing: Playing an instrument or singing is a crucial part of music. You will select an instrument to perform on or use your voice both as a soloist and in an ensemble.
Composing: Creating your own music, including designing drum beats, writing lyrics, creating melodies and learning how to harmonise music.
Analysing music: Listening to a variety of genres and learning about the elements which make up songs, studying how music is made and understanding the theory behind the sounds.
Who would this course be suitable for?
You should enjoy music and have an interested in this subject.
You will need to be able to performing on an instrument or sing as part of this course, and practice regularly at home.
You should have an interest in music and learning about how it works.
You are creative and imaginative as you will create your own music.
You will enjoy using computers, as we will record and edit music as part of the course.
You can work well in a group and co-operate with others.
You are committed to developing your skills throughout the whole course.
Home learning and time management are crucial skills for this course.
